How to add, configure, and customize category tabs in a list.
Built-in categories
When you add a category, you can choose from 17 built-in types with predefined column schemas:

Adding a category
- Inside a list, click + Category in the left sidebar.
- Choose a built-in type or Custom.
- The category tab is added and you can start adding items.
Each list has a limit on how many extra categories you can add beyond the first:

Customizing columns (category settings)
Click the Settings gear icon on a category tab to open the category settings modal.
Column options
For each column you can configure:

| Label | Column header text |
| Unit | Physical unit (ohm, volt, farad, etc.) |
| Prefix | SI prefix (m, µ, n, k, M) |
| Main | Mark one column as the "primary" value, displayed prominently |
| Filterable | Show this column as a checkbox filter in the right panel |
| Options | Predefined dropdown values; leave empty for free text |
Adding a custom column
Click + Add field at the bottom of the column list. Enter a label and choose a unit. Custom columns count toward your plan's extra properties limit.
Deleting a column
Click the × next to any column. Existing item data for that column is lost.
Deleting a category
Open category settings and click Delete category. All items in the category are permanently removed.
