How to add, configure, and customize category tabs in a list.

Built-in categories

When you add a category, you can choose from 17 built-in types with predefined column schemas:

Adding a category

  1. Inside a list, click + Category in the left sidebar.
  2. Choose a built-in type or Custom.
  3. The category tab is added and you can start adding items.

Each list has a limit on how many extra categories you can add beyond the first:

Customizing columns (category settings)

Click the Settings gear icon on a category tab to open the category settings modal.

Column options

For each column you can configure:

PrefixSI prefix (m, µ, n, k, M)
MainMark one column as the "primary" value, displayed prominently
FilterableShow this column as a checkbox filter in the right panel
OptionsPredefined dropdown values; leave empty for free text

Adding a custom column

Click + Add field at the bottom of the column list. Enter a label and choose a unit. Custom columns count toward your plan's extra properties limit.

Deleting a column

Click the × next to any column. Existing item data for that column is lost.

Deleting a category

Open category settings and click Delete category. All items in the category are permanently removed.
